Pollachi is located at the southern part of Coimbatore district , Tamil Nadu and is the second largest town in the district. Pollachi was once known as “pozhil vaichi” – meaning “the land of natural wealth and prosperity.” The name Pozhil Vaichi has changed into Pollachi over time.

Included within the tiger reserve The Parambikulam Wildlife Sanctuary is a reservoir of tranquil greenery ensconced in a valley between the Anaimalai Hills range of Tamil Nadu and the Nelliampathi Hills range of Kerala. Thickly forested with stands of bamboo, sandalwood, rosewood and teak. The sanctuary is home to one of the oldest and largest teak trees in the world and also has received great reviews amongst tourist places
Sethumadai is a village located 25 km from Pollachi in Coimbatore District, Tamil Nadu, India. It is 10 km from Anaimalai, which is famous for its Arulmigu Masani Amman Temple. Samathur rests in the midst of rivers and mountains. It was a significant place over the many centuries as it was the seat of one of the 72 Palayakarar/Poligar or Regional Ruler. Later it became a Zamindari under the British with about 18 villages under its care. At the heart of the village is the splendid Palace with a nandavanam alongside which is a delight to visit. Even today the Vanavarayar’s of Samathur are the presiding family and they continue to be involved in the social, religious and traditional routine and during special occasions.
Valparai is a Taluk and hill station in the Coimbatore district of Tamil Nadu located about 65 km from Pollachi and is situated at an altitude of 3500 feet above the sea level. Even the ride from Pollachi to Valparai with lush green forest area is an absolutely wonderful thing to experience. Valparai is about 40 Hairpin bends from Aliyar. Called the ‘7th heaven’ by its official website, it is worth going, at least once in our life-time.
Indira Gandhi Wildlife Sanctuary and National Park is a protected area located in the Anaimalai Hills of Pollachi, Valparai and Udumalpet taluks of Coimbatore District. As an ecological paradise, this sanctuary encompasses a National Park, and has recently been merged with the mountain range of Anaimalai hills of Valparai, Ulandy, Amaravathi and Udumalpet . It was declared a Project Tiger Reserve in the year 2008. It is home to more than 250 species of birds of 49 families and the habitats found here are vast and varied and its richness in flora and fauna is extremely impressive.
Pollachi is well connected by a network of state and national highways. It connects with Palakkad Junction to the west, Podanur and Coimbatore Junctions to the north and Dindigul Junction to the east. It’s close to 7 hours from Bangalore, 8 from Chennai and 2 hours from Coimbatore city.
Railway services on the Pollachi-Palani route has recently began. Although Coimbatore is the railway junction, if you’re coming via Delhi, you can arrive to Pollachi through bus from Tripur. The Palani – Pollachi express leaves Palani at 7.45 AM and reaches Pollachi at 9.10 AM and leaves Pollachi at 4.45 PM to reach Palani at 6.10PM.
Coimbatore airport is the nearest international airport to Pollachi -approximately 1 hour by road. International flights to Singapore, Sharjah are available by Silk Air, Air Arabia and Srilankan Airlines. Domestic airlines fly to Chennai, Bangalore, New Delhi, Mumbai, Ahmedabad and other Indian cities.
